Following the sterling example of [livejournal.com profile] laurawise, here are five good things.

Firstly and mostly important, my friend Pati and her husband Jay will be here later today! Pati and I grew up together; we met in junior high school mumblety-mumble years ago and were the best of friends till we both went off to college. And really, BFFs ever after, even through the years when we were mostly out of touch, our friendship never disappeared. Now she lives in West Yellowstone, MT and we've visited her twice over the past six years, and today she'll be here. Happymaking!

I just finished making dinner. There's a pot roast in the crockpot, with onions and sweet potatoes, and it will cook slowly over the next eight hours and perfume the house with yumminess and be ready whenever we're ready to eat.

I have begun our taxes, and I think that if I put in a half hour or so every day, they will be done by filing time. I don't know if we'll get a refund, but being able to afford to pay taxes and buy what we need is a blessing, and I do not take it lightly. **postive spin, like a cheerfully charged electron**

Last week I went to the ballet with [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw Elo Experience, which included several pieces by a Finnish choreographer named Jorma Elo, and it was strange and wonderful, blending very classical ballet steps and postures with modern dance moves and spoken word, music ranging from Vivaldi and Tschaikovsky to Philip Glass and several composers who were unfamiliar to me.

And I have tickets to three more ballets: A Midsummer Night's Dream, choreograpy by Balanchine; Bella Figura (a collection of works by three choreographers, including a piece the program warns me is "tangibly sensual in its adoration and reverence toward the human body, and contains partial nudity (!); and Balanchine/Robbins, an evening with the works of two of the twentieth century's greatest choreographers. I missed live dance, and am resolved to do more of the things I love, regardless of whether or not my spouse and kids have any interest.

Tell me your good things!
